The course will focus on the nutritional interventions and their implications for patients post-bariatric surgery with emphasis on the major role of the dietitians. This will include a review of the procedures, risks, benefits of bariatric and metabolic surgeries, and nutrition assessment. The course will address the weight regain post-bariatric including the nutrition care for early and late postoperative phases, as well as, weight maintenance. The postoperative challenges and strategies to manage will be discussed including abdominal pain, dumping syndrome, anorexia, bulimia, diarrhea and SIBO to name a few. Accordingly, the course will cover the clinical management strategies for prevention and management of weight regain post-bariatric at the behvioral, nutritional and pharmacotherapy level.
