The course will start with explaining the physiology and pathophysiology of wound healing, its classification, and the nutritional risk factors, as well as, malnutrition in wound healing. The course will address the assessment pathways for wound healing and the malnutrition screening. Then the course will focus on nutrition of wound healing including the role of micronutrients, macronutrients, hydration, and addresses practical nutrition strategies to promote wound healing. The role of proteins will be highlighted with emphasis on oral nutrition supplements. In addition, the psychological interventions conducted by dietitians will be addressed using motivational interviewing.
